Phew !!! Just realized its been a very very long time since I picked up my electronic pen and wrote something . I won't make any excuses , I have just been a little lazy for a while ... until yesterday . We were watching a movie "Into The Wild" and was casually staring at the TV for the actual movie to begin after the endless promos of upcoming movies. The movie starts with a wonderful poem written by Lord Byron which on reading made me sit up straight from the sloppy couch ... heres the verse
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more ....
I could not agree more ... each line has so much depth and truth in it ... being in the US for the past couple of years has made me feel the magical pull in natural beauty.... be it the serene beaches of Florida Keys, the awe inspiring mountains of the Smokies , the sheer vastness of Lake Michigan ... my admiration for the endless beauty on Earth strengthens with every passing day .... and wonders are not just limited to natural elements of water , earth and sky , it is ingrained in each of the inhabitants on this planet.... birds , animals , sea creatures , trees and leaves ....have cherished gazing at birds coming to our bird feeder , felt the thrill of seeing the fishes right in my eyes while snorkelling , felt the coziness of warm spring days and crisp coolness of the fall air .... have been fascinated by the soft hues of spring flowers and bright bold colors of fall leaves .... the list is endless .... and it makes me sad to see concrete cities rising and how man's violent attempts to keep pace with the over bulging world population is ruining the wonders we have .... politics , terror , economy assume priority over global warming .... who cares if polar bears will get extinct , if glaciers melt or if the temperatures are rising ... its left to the scientists and great minds to come up with super natural cure to pacify the wrath of Nature ..... if only each one of us can take small measures everyday and remind ourselves that we need to do a good turn each and every single day , we can be satisfied that we truly made 'our own small world a better place to live in'.
