An event that occurred sometime back made me doubt human intentions . It would be unethical for me to describe the event and spell out names ,but when I thought about it more I felt it was my foolishness to expect fairness from all . I hate the term 'cut-throat' competition - why do you need to pull someone down to go up ? Why can't people be just and fair and let the best person move up ? A lot has to do with ego and pride - it is considered humiliating to accept self defeat - why don't we look at it as opportunities to improve or even accept the fact we can not be the best and most talented person on earth ?
When I look around I find examples galore - friends who fight to get more marks in the exam (after 10 years how many people would ask for their marksheets for which they bargained a wonderful friend for life) , brothers who can't look at each other in the eye just because they want their individual businesses to bloom(even though they are earning in billions how much are they going to take with them when they die for which they are spoiling their blood relations)... the business domain / marketplace is an unforgiving and emotionless place - when you have to earn food for the family nothing else matters . And even if one's family is well fed and taken care of the greed of more money makes some people insensitive .What is point of being a faithful worshiper in the temple and then using unfair means of trade ? How fruitless your life would be if you have to leave behind a fortune in your will to your dog ? Or your name made headlines in every newspaper but you are desperately lonely in your old age ?
Everyone knows to distinguish real from fake - so if some one shows fake affection , care or concern its completely visible even though nobody points it out .Same is with genuine care and concern - when thoughts and actions match perfectly the effects are remembered forever .
In the world of scarce resources where every species is fighting for survival - it is but natural that people will be selfish and self centered , and in such circumstances also those who are able to play fair , just and humanly will be those who have harnessed their real potential .
